This catalogue describes our complete range of standard rules together with their reference numbers. E-mail our sales department hfw@caslon.co.uk to get your printed version. . The original body sizes of our tool rules are derived from printers' measurements from the days when brass rule was used in conjunction with lead type to print lines, columns and fancy borders. Known as the Anglo/American point system, the sizes do not positively relate to either imperial or metric but have become a working standard within the plastics industry using the original reference sizes known as "Points" or "pt." for short. In some areas of the world a metric equivilent is used and thus we now offer these sizes also. Some of the sizes are so close we have discontinued the old “Point” size and only offer the metric equivilent. All our tool rules are manufactured to standard lengths of 660 mm (26"). Where the same pattern or design is available on more than one body size, the code number is followed by the point size of the rule required. (i.e.) 2pt. Stitch Weld Rule is shown as STW 23/2, whereas the same pattern produced on a 6pt. body is STW 23/6. If a metric body is required this has to be specified in the same way. The conversion table below will help to explain the differences and act as a quick reference chart showing the body sizes.
